Professional Experience
Peter has specialised in the area of insurance litigation since he was admitted as a solicitor in 2007.
Prior to joining Lee & Lyons as a paralegal in 2003, Peter worked for 12 months as a public liability claims manager at Jardine Lloyd Thompson. During his employment as a paralegal, Peter was seconded to AIG for 6 months and QBE 386 for 8 months providing claims management assistance.
Peter has experience acting for insurers in the areas of:
- Public and products liability.
- Accident and health.
- Building and construction.
- Statutory classes.
Peter has advised local and international market insurers, including Lloyds syndicates. His recent projects include:
- Advising insurers of a manufacture and design company in relation to a multi party claim arising from the death of an employee. This includes both civil proceedings in the District Court and subsequent criminal proceedings in the Industrial Relations Commission.
- Advising insurers of a construction company in relation to a multi party dispute arising from cracking and subsidence which developed in a residential apartment block following excavation on a neighbouring property.
- Acting for security companies and hotels in relation to personal injury claims arising from assaults.
- Acting for a number of Insurers in relation to personal injury claims arising from building sites.
- Acting for Insurers of an industrial cleaning company in relation to personal injury claims occurring major shopping centres.
- Successfully appealing to the High Court in “Mouborak v Adeels Palace” which determined occupier’s liability and causation issues.
Local Government Experience:
- Acting for volunteer associations including Surf Life Saving Australia in relation to personal injury claims.
