Professional Experience
Carl has worked as an employed solicitor in a large national firm and has had positions as a legal officer with AMP and NZI Insurance. For several years Carl was the CTP Manager of CGU Insurance.
Carl has experience in general insurance and particularly in the litigation and management of CTP claims.
Carl was the CTP manager responsible for the Defence of a number of CTP actions determined in appellate courts in New South Wales and Queensland and in the High Court. Of these CTP actions a Court of Appeal case regarding the gratuitous care threshold and a High Court case involving an infant pedestrian have continued to be cited in subsequent decisions.
Carl has advised New South Wales and Queensland insurers on the impact of legislative changes.
Carl regularly provides training to insurers on claims handling and litigation.
