  • Defending a stock broker in significant proceedings brought by a large number of claimants with regard to the negligent investment of superannuation funds and family trusts.
  • Managing several professional indemnity claims against financial advisers involving 50 - 100 investors.
  • Acting for an international consultant engineer in a $100million claim in connection with the construction of a freeway.
  • Acting for a consultant engineering firm in relation to proceedings brought by the Conservation Council against the owner/operator of a dam in Queensland concerning the impact of the dam on an endangered species of fish and whether the dam has breached conditions of the Minister's consent. The engineering firm was retained to advise on the design of the dam.
  • Defending a firm of engineers in ICC arbitration proceedings in Singapore initiated by an international contractor. The contractor alleged the engineers had been negligent in calculating steelwork quantities for a design and construct tender bid to widen a highway bridge located in South Korea.
  • Acting on instructions from the professional indemnity insurer for an accountant with a connection with allegedly negligent advice to the trustee of a superannuation fund.
  • Acting for a group of Australian and London based insurers of a multinational firm of engineers on a claim for $10,000,000.00 resulting from the alleged negligent design and repair of a 1180kv induction motor at an oil refinery.
  • Acting for a local insurer of a mortgage broker in claims exceeding $1,000,000.00 for fraudulently established loans.
  • Acting on behalf of underwriters in relation to a multi-million dollar dispute arising from the actions of a manager of a mortgage fund.
  • Acting for the insurers of an accountant in a claim involving allegations of failure to recommend the transfer of trust assets to beneficiaries of the trust before they passed away so as to avoid stamp duty and a capital gains liability payable by the subsequent beneficiaries.
  • Acting in a number of claims involving a defunct valuation company. The claims involved allegations of a failure to provide accurate valuations of real property in Sydney.
  • Acting for the professional indemnity insurer of a lawyer who was alleged to have failed to advise his client of the improvidence of entering into multiple mortgages with the funds being for the benefit of third parties.
  • Acting on behalf of the professional indemnity insurer of the Body Corporate in substantive Supreme Court litigation concerning allegations of a failure to administer its obligations.
