Professional Experience
Julijana joined Lee & Lyons in November 2009. She was admitted to the Supreme Court in New South Wales in July 2006 and to the High Court in November 2006. Julijana has experience in public liability, professional indemnity and product liability claims as well as coronial inquests.
Julijana's experience in public liability claims includes those made against public authorities, such as the RTA and local councils.
Julijana's experience in defending professional indemnity claims includes professionals such as lawyers, architects, engineers, mortgage brokers and financiers.
Julijana's recent professional indemnity experience includes:
- Julijana acted for the professional indemnity insurer of a solicitor who was alleged to have failed to advise his client of the improvidence of entering into multiple mortgages with the funds being for the benefit of third parties.
- Assisting in a mediation of an unlitigated claim estimated at $30million on behalf of an overseas insurer. The claim involved multiple parties and arose out of a fatality on a construction site of the Cross-City Tunnel with mixed issues concerning professional indemnity/public liability.
- Acting on behalf of the insurer of a contractor to the Commonwealth of Australia in a professional indemnity claim made by detainees of Villawood Immigration Detention Centre for failure to provide proper care.
Julijana's recent public liability experience
- Julijana acted for the insurers of landlords who failed to identify and remedy defects in a balcony railing which collapsed. The Plaintiff who was leaning against the railing fell to the ground and sustained serious injuries.
- Julijana acted for the RTA where it was alleged that the RTA failed to provide a bicycle lane on a main road or in the absence of such lane provide signage warning bicycles that no such lane existed and offering alternate bicycle routes. The Plaintiff who was riding a bicycle on the main road was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle causing the plaintiff to suffer catastrophic injuries.
- Acting in numerous personal injury claims against a number of organisations including local councils, absentee landlords, shopping centre managers, cleaning companies, contactors and subcontractors.
