Professional Experience:

Edwina joined Lee & Lyons in May 2010. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in February 2008 and to the High Court in April 2008. Edwina has experience in professional indemnity as well as public liability claims.

Edwina has experience in a wide range of jurisdictions including the Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court of Australia.

Edwina’s experience in defending professional indemnity claims includes defending claims against a wide range of professionals such as valuers, barristers, solicitors, engineers, accountants and mortgage brokers.

Edwina’s recent professional indemnity experience includes:

• Acting for valuers in relation to claims brought by mortgage insurers for alleged over-valuations.
• Acting for accountants and real estate agents for claims for theft of trust account monies by employees.
• Acting for an engineer in relation to the alleged negligent design of a large balustrade in a public housing complex.
• Acting for a mortgage broker in relation to a claim brought by a mortgage company for an alleged fraudulent loan application.

Edwina’s experience in public liability includes acting in the defence of personal injury claims against cleaning companies, absentee landlords, contractors and sub-contractors.

Recent liability experience includes:

• Acting in the defence of claims brought by Plaintiffs against a cleaning company who had cleaning contracts with a major Australian shopping centre chain.
• Acting for the insurer of a religious organisation in property damage claims.
• Acting in relation to claims brought for personal injury under travel policies.
