Andrea commenced at Lee & Lyons in March 2009. Andrea's main areas of practice include public liability, product liability, professional negligence, building and construction claims and statutory classes including compulsory third party claims.
Andrea's recent experience includes:
Public, Product Liability and Property Damage
- Defending a case for a major transmission company in relation to injuries sustained to a contractor who was conducting live line testing using a helicopter. The matter was favourably resolved at mediation.
- Acting on behalf of occupiers in relation to slip and falls at various locations including building sites, shopping centres and hotels.
- Acting for an owner of a coal mine in respect of various personal injury matters including a fatality claim.
- Defending a case on behalf of a large paper mill in relation to nervous shock claims brought by the family of a deceased worker.
- Acting for an owner of abattoirs in relation to injuries sustained by contractors.
- Acting for a major water utility in respect of various claims including property damage, breach of contract claims and building site accidents.
- Defending a claim on behalf of a school in relation to a student sustaining significant brain damage and spinal injuries as a result of a horse accident. The matter was favourably resolved at mediation.
- Successfully defending a claim on behalf of a building owner in relation to a fall from a balcony resulting in quadriplegia.
- Acting for a manufacturer involving claims brought pursuant to the Trade Practices Act for defective packaging and defective glass.
- Acting for a hotel in respect of an assault sustained to a patron by a security guard.
Professional Indemnity
- Acting for an architect relating to allegations of negligent design.
- Acting for an accountant relating to allegations of negligence in preparation of tax advice.
Building and Construction
- Conduct of Home Builders Warranty matters for an insurer defending building claims in the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and the Supreme Court.
- Acting for owners and developers in respect of claims made under the Security of Payments Act 1999 including drafting responses to adjudication applications.
